11 Things People Miss Most About Indiana When They Leave

Indiana residents cherish unique local experiences and cultural elements that they miss when they leave the state.

Growing up in Indiana has been an amazing journey and I will never leave.  This isn't the case for many.  People leave everyday due to jobs opportunities, college, military and so on.  We know one thing is for sure: we love OUR state!  Here is my list of things people will definitely miss when they leave Indiana.

1. Comfort Stew

The most traditional stew in Indiana has a really hearty beef base. Cold nights like these require some Indiana stew. Remember: make a bunch because it's always better the second day.

2. Corn

Straight from Tim McGraw, "Oh I miss yeah a little dirt on the road, I miss corn growin' in a row. I miss being somebody everybody knows, there everybody knows everybody."

3. Windmill Farms

Everyone always loves seeing the windmill farms and their beautiful simplicity.

4. Craft Breweries

Craft breweries seem to be making headway in Indiana lately. With this said, others would miss a good craft beer!

5. Amazing Smiles

We are known for our outgoing personalities and amazing smiles. I would miss the hospitality of Indiana.

6. Small City Drive-Ins

7. Monument Circle Lights

Who wouldn't miss Monument Circle all shiny and bright?

10. Your Favorite Restaurants Remembering Your Order

"I like cooking food, and I like serving food, but I don’t like having to make a lot of fuss about it,"

~ Nels (owner and operator) They know my order every time.

We have plenty of gorgeous lakes for relaxing and fishing. I think spending quality family time would be a devastating loss to many.
