The Potato Mountain Wilderness Trail is rated as moderate, but the steep incline makes it feel a bit more advanced. With that said, come prepared for a workout and the payoff will be worth it.

Although any time of day is mighty fine for a hike along the Potato Mountain Wilderness Trail, we think the sunrise view is well worth experiencing at least once in your lifetime.
Depending on the time of year and the time of day you take this hike, the sun will be out in full force if you head out later in the day. Just one more reason to go early to catch the sunrise.
If you do end up taking this hike in the afternoon, make sure to bring a hat for sun protection as there are a few sections of the trail that are lacking any shade. And pack extra water, more than you think you'll need, as you'll want to stay nice and hydrated.
