Our favorite cave, the Burro Schmidt Tunnel, dates back to the 1900s and is the site of a former mining tunnel that was carved by hand by a single individual over a 38-year period. Take this day trip out to the Mojave Desert as it's one of SoCal's coolest hidden gems. You can find the Burro Schmidt Tunnel off Highway 14 in Red Rock Canyon State Park.
