Tucked away just minutes from downtown Sioux Falls, the Great Bear Recreation Park is a 220-acre oasis that offers something to do every season!
Billed as being the largest park in the Sioux Falls Parks & Recreation Department, the Great Bear Recreation Park is known near and far for its epic skiing (a la the Great Bear Ski Valley), but you may be surprised to learn that there is plenty of hiking and sightseeing to do, too.
In the spring, summer, and early fall, you will find something to do that everyone in the family can enjoy, including four miles of world-class hiking trails, picture-perfect picnic spots, wildlife sightings, scenic views galore, and unique photo opportunities.
Did we mention that admission to the park during these warmer months is free?
When temperatures have plummeted, and the snow is falling, the Great Bear Recreation Park is still the place to be, as it comes to life with its hills and rails perfect for skiing, snowboarding, and snow tubing.
In addition to all of the above, the Great Bear Recreation Park is also home to numerous special events, including yoga classes, nighttime "laser" tubing, a winter carnival, and more.
