South Dakotans Are Quietly Obsessed With The Humble Prairie Dog Cafe
While some people may flock to fancier restaurants thinking higher prices mean better food, most of us South Dakotans already know that this is not the case and that the lower-key the place, the better the meal. Agree? While nearly every area has a handful of these down-home establishments to choose from, we cannot get enough of the humble Prairie Dog Cafe:
You know McLaughlin as being the largest city on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation (with a population of 650), but did you know that it is home to some of the best food in SoDak?
Welcome to the modest Prairie Dog Cafe: a down-home, hole-in-the-wall restaurant that will have you coming back for seconds!
Opened in 2003, the Prairie Dog Cafe is famous for serving food as good as grandma used to make (if not better - sorry, grandma) in huge portions and at a low price.
Open for breakfast and lunch (and even dinner on Thursday and Friday), the Prairie Dog has a little something for everyone, including hearty, stick-to-your-ribs breakfast specials...
...Innovative and oh-so-tasty hamburgers...
...And some of the best Mexican food outside of Mexico!
In addition to the food itself, the Prairie Dog Cafe also offers a comfortable dining room and friendly staff that will make you feel right at home.
