The Mom & Pop Restaurant In South Carolina That Serves The Most Mouthwatering Home Cooked Meals
South Carolina is home to a variety of Mom and Pop restaurants that dish up some fine home cooking. We wrote about 15 of them in this article we published last summer. In 2017, one of those very special eateries is celebrating their 70th year in business: Wade’s Restaurant.

Wade's first opened in the Spring of 1947. Shown above in 1957, Wade's was then a trendy BBQ drive-in with curb hops. Over the years, Wade's grew and eventually moved into their current location in the Pinewood Shopping Center.

Still family owned, Wade's is still that fun and friendly mom and pop restaurant it always was.

It's a place where you can expect to find the same wholesome home-cooked goodness each and every day.

Not only is it wholesome, the food here is also as fresh as it can be. From the fried chicken, bbq andchicken fried steak - all the way to the veggies on your plate, it's all delicious and fresh.

Desserts are so good, it makes it hard not to eat them first...

But if you keep your eye on the prize as you devour your savory meat and three sides, you'll be able to save room for the sweet stuff afterwards.

But it's hard, when everything at Wade's is made fresh, like the yeast rolls that you'll swear were made using your Mom's recipe.

Speaking of Mom, Wade's love celebrating Mother's Day and did so this year with a flying billboard that made the rounds over Spartanburg. Did you see it?

And for Father's Day, they set up a photo tent so you could get that perfect Dad's Day photo with the family.

Wade's is a big part of the community. In the photo above, they're all set up for "move-in day" at Wofford College. The first day of college is a monumental moment, not to mention, hard work lugging all the gear around.

Wade's was on hand to pass out cold drinks to the students and parents, making this tough day a little easier.

For sure, it's not just the scrumptious home cookin' that wins awards like this one for Wade's - it's THAT and everything else they do.
After 70 years, Wade's has transcended beyond being part of the communty, to being the community; the place where the community has come together for generations.

This local mom and pop isn't without a sense of humor. Their waiting area is lined with funny "Wade's Outdoor" billboards to make you smile, like the little navy beans dressed in sailor hats - advertising the beans at Wade's.

And the pig sunbathing on the beach - to advertise the baked ham.

And for dessert you may find yourself ordering the Apple Cobbler after seeing this Wade's Outdoor billboard. It's not only the great food and friendly staff that'll make you smile at Wade's.

Generations of families in the Upstate have been eating at Wade's for nearly three-quarters of a century. Not only does the community come to Wade's, but Wade's also goes out to the community. This mom & pop eatery in South Carolina is one of the oldest in the state and also one of the best.

Wade’s is located at 1000 N Pine St, Spartanburg, SC 29303. How many generations of your family have been dining at Wade’s Restaurant? We’d love to know in our comments!
