This Out Of The Way Public Beach May Be The Best Kept Secret In South Carolina
The Palmetto State is a favorite retreat for vacationers from far and wide and our beaches are a huge part of the allure. So much so, that if you live in or near a beach community, you may think twice about heading to a crowded beach where you may or may not find a parking spot, let alone a quiet spot on the sand. Little do they (the visitors) know there are a few hidden beaches in South Carolina where we can escape the crowds and enjoy a day in the surf.
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. While we continue to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, please take proper precautions or add them to your bucket list to see at a later date. If you know of a local business that could use some extra support during these times, please nominate them here: onlyinyourstate.com/nominate
One of those secret spots is a white, sandy beach that stretches along the Atlantic for nearly a half mile of unspoiled beachfront.
Pawleys Island is located between Georgetown and Litchfield Beach. The parking lot at the south end of the island is open from dawn until 11:00 p.m. There are no facilities for public use at this beach. Here’s a Google Maps link that will guide you to the parking lot.
Address: 764 County Road S-22-104, Pawleys Island, SC, 29585
