Of all the things you’d least expect to find in South Carolina, a kazoo factory and museum might top the list! But we have it! Hidden right in sleepy Beaufort is The Kazoobie Kazoo Factory, Museum, and Gift Shop and it’s weirdly wonderful. Take a look:

One of the very last kazoo factories in the U.S. is located right in Beaufort in an unassuming building that also houses a museum and a gift shop.

And a visit here is sure to broaden your awareness of the membranophone known as the kazoo, which creates sound by manipulating or vibrating a stretched membrane when a user hums into it.

Kazoobie Kazoo Factory is America's largest kazoo manufacturer, making an average of about 5,000 kazoos each day. That's about 1.7 million kazoos each year!

Tours are offered Monday through Friday at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. at cost of $9 for adults 12 and up and $7 for kids ages 4-11.
