5 Winter Festivals In Rhode Island That Are Simply Unforgettable
While winter can feel like a long and daunting season at times for New Englanders, there are many ways to enjoy the season. One great activity is attending one of the fun winter festivals found in the state. Lucky for the people of the smallest state, there are winter themed festivals happening all over this December. Here are five of the most well known.


Named "New England's Largest Winter Extravaganza," the New England Winter Festival is in its 27th year. The event features 10 days of great food, live entertainment, and more across the city of Newport.


The historic village of Wickford will hold the annual Festival of Lights from December 1st through 4th. Enjoy hay rides, visits with Santa, live music, an elf parade, and several other winter and holiday themed attractions.


The Bristol Christmas Festival is a collection of holiday related events throughout the month of December at various locations. Attractions vary from caroling, concerts, story times, and more.

The 20th annual Holiday Stroll and Luminara will be held on December 7th in the historic downtown Westerly/ Pawcatuck area. Enjoy fun-filled community events, shopping, and entertainment.

The capital city of Providence will kick off it's yearly holiday celebration with a shopping stroll, caroling, and tree lighting in downtown. On Saturday December 3rd, head to the Alex and Ani Skating Center for performances by the Providence Gay Men's Choir, figure skating by Sarah Mirza DiNardo, Brad Vigorito and two-time Olympic medalist Michelle Kwan, and more.
