The Haunted Bar That’s Been Around Since Before Rhode Island Was Even A State

The White Horse Tavern is not only Rhode Island’s oldest bar, but it’s the oldest continuously operated restaurant in America. Since 1673, it has been a gathering place for everyone from our founding fathers to tourists and locals alike. Of course, a place with a building this old is bound to have some paranormal activity — and it does. The list of ghost stories here is longer than the cocktail menu.

We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. While we continue to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, please take proper precautions or add them to your bucket list to see at a later date. If you know of a local business that could use some extra support during these times, please nominate them here: onlyinyourstate.com/nominate

Dining inside the White Horse Tavern will resume as soon as possible. And when it does, check it out for a scrumptious meal (and maybe a good scare).
