Hope Valley is a little village in the town of Hopkinton, with roots dating all the way back to the late 1700s. These days, this sleepy little town stays quiet and peaceful – and although there isn't much to offer when it comes to tourist attractions, it is home to one of the best bakeries in Rhode Island. West's Bakery serves perfect pastries, massive cinnamon rolls, and the best hearty breakfasts ever. And no matter what part of Rhody you call home, it's worth making the drive to check it out.
West's Bakery sits on Main Street in Hope Valley, where it has remained since its 1950 opening.
To locals, it's simply known as "the bakery." And when current conditions allow, it's a great gathering spot for groups of hungry guests.
If you grew up near Hope Valley, you may have fond memories of coming here with your family.
And if it's been a while (or a lifetime) since you've been, it may be time to pay it a visit.
Among other delicious things, West's Bakery is known for its zeppole, a fantastic Italian pastry.
They aren't always available, so if you see them in the bakery case, make sure to ask for plenty.
Of course, sweet treats aren't the only thing you'll find on the menu here.
West's has a full menu of breakfast classics, including a long list of delicious omelets. And you'll definitely want to wash your meal down with a hot coffee or a specialty latte.
The classic Eggs Benedict is a local favorite – in fact, they're some of the best in Rhode Island.
West's also serves specialty Benedicts throughout the year, like these corned beef has Bennies served last St. Patrick's Day.
But of course, whether you stop in for brunch or you're just craving a treat, you'll always want to grab some dessert like a scrumptious Bismarck.
Later on, when you're back home and that sugar craving hits, you'll be glad you did.
Wests' Bakery is currently open Thursday through Saturday from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Sunday from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m.
