Rhode Island’s waterfalls aren’t known for their towering heights, but they are still beautiful. Cascade Brook Falls comes in as the state’s tallest waterfall at a respectable 12 feet. So while it can’t compete in a height contest with Hawaii’s 2,756 foot Pu’uka’oku Falls, it is a lovely visit nonetheless. So tie on those hiking boots and go check it out.

Cascade Brook Falls is located in the Ken Weber Conservation Area at Cascade Brook. This 27-acre property is in Smithfield, which is just about 15 miles northwest of Providence. You enter the park off Route 44 at the sign for Village at Waterman Lake.

The conservation area is dedicated to the late Ken Weber, who was known as “Nature’s best friend in Smithfield.” Ken and his wife created the trail on this property and named it for the lovely brook and waterfall you find there. Be sure to follow the blue trail markers to stay on the path.

The 1.1 mile loop trail in the park will lead you to the falls. The path is heavily wooded, so if you visit in the fall you will see lovely foliage.
