The Rhode Island Christmas Display That’s Been Named Among The Most Beautiful In The World
It’s beginning to look a lot like… well, like an entirely different holiday season than we’re used to here in Rhode Island. That being said, there are still plenty of magical traditions we’ll be able to indulge in this year, most notably the Christmastime tours of our elegant Newport Mansions. While certain precautions are being taken and capacity will be limited, the seasonal decor is more dazzling than ever, and for that we are thankful.
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. While we continue to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, please take proper precautions or add them to your bucket list to see at a later date. If you know of a local business that could use some extra support during these times, please nominate them here: onlyinyourstate.com/nominate

This year, Marble House will be closed to the public. But The Breakers and The Elms will shine brighter than ever.

The 15-foot tall poinsettia tree is a local favorite, and it's back this year.

Of course, no expense is spared when it comes to decking these halls.

People come from all over New England to take guided tours during the holiday season.

In fact, they might win a prestigious award this year. Only 18 historic sites around the country were selected to vie for USA Today’s Best Holiday Historic Home Tour, and The Breakers and The Elms are in the running. Good news -- the public can vote!

For the first time, the exterior of The Breakers and its landscape have been decked out in thousands of festive colored lights. The outdoor event kicked off November 21, and you'll have until January 10th to see it.

The mansions will remain open even during the two -week pause, with some capacity regulations. Reservations aren't required, but buying your tickets online is always a good idea.
