Monte Cara is located in a humble building on Lonsdale Avenue in Pawtucket.

Monte Cara is actually named for a mountain on the island of Cape Verde, and in fact, it's known as one of Cape Verde's seven wonders.

The interior has a full bar, a deck for seasonal outdoor dining, and a spacious indoor dining area.

The dining area is pleasant and inviting. It almost feels like you're a special guest in someone's home.

The large main room often features live entertainment, DJs, or even karaoke.

And after several months of being closed due to current conditions, the eatery is officially back open for business. Hopefully the special events will soon follow.

Cape Verde cuisine is mostly based on fish and staple foods like corn and rice.

Prominent vegetables include potatoes onions, tomatoes, manioc, cabbage,and kale.

There's also plenty of seafood on the menu here, and it's excellent.

Everything is simmered in authentic African spices, and it's delicious.

While this cuisine can be considered exotic, you won't find anything on the menu you don't recognize.

Chicken and French fries are tasty on any continent.
