Rhode Island’s dining scene is well-known in New England, especially all the trendy new eateries in Providence. That being said, there’s something special about those small, lesser known mom and pop spots that make us feel homesick in the best way. Homestead Restaurant is definitely one of those places, and it’s a tried-and-true gem we can’t seem to get enough of.

Homestead is located in Exeter, a small rural town that extends east from the Connecticut border to the town of North Kingstown.

This place has been family owned and operated since their 1993 beginnings.
When you step inside, prepare to feel like you're entering the home of your favorite relatives who happen to be amazing cooks.

The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and everything is always clean and comfortable.
The menu consists entirely of homemade comfort food, the kind you used to get at home if you were lucky.

The concept is simple, but sometimes simple is best.
It's tough to get past the soup and salad portion of the menu -- from clam chowder to French onion, it's pretty enticing.

If you'd like something lighter, the salad selection is fantastic.
Of course, the burger menu is also top notch, as are the fried chicken and other specialties.
