While all good things must come to an end, including outdoor dining season, we've still got plenty of warm summer nights to enjoy a meal under the sun or stars. And if you've lived in Rhode Island long enough, Iggy's is probably a household name. Not only is the food fantastic, but each of their locations has a perfect waterfront patio perfect for soaking up the summer rays.
Iggy's Doughboy and Chowder House was first built in 1989, but its roots go back much further.
Founder and original owner Gaetano Gravino, a hairstylist, was working part-time at a doughboy shack in Oakland Beach. When the opportunity came to purchase the business, he and his wife took the chance. Clearly, it was the right decision.
Gaetano Gravino named his new eatery after a nickname given to him by his son, David.
These days, it's a beloved local treasure with two main locations.
Iggy's in Narragansett sits right on Point Judith Road with a waterfront dining area the locals love.
It isn't easy to get a table here on a hot summer day, but it's worth the wait.
The menu consists mainly of seafood, from classic fish and chips to the famous lobster roll.
But fear not -- if you're not a seafood fan, you'll appreciate the lengthy burger list and tasty sides like chicken wings and onion rings.
The seafood platter is a popular pick, offering a little bit of everything.
Just make sure you start your meal with some clam chowder, as it has won numerous awards.
The second Iggy's location is in Warwick, known as Iggy's Boardwalk.
Much like its other location, it sits right on the water.
This is Iggy's original Oakland Beach location, and it's as popular as ever.
The raw bar here is the stuff dreams are made of. If you love oysters on the half shell, you'll love it here.
Both Iggy's locations are open for takeout, which you can order online.
But if you're ready, they'd love to welcome you back to their pristine patios.
Have you been to Iggy's this summer?
