Sometimes we can't help but wonder if the team at CAV ever gets used to all the praise the eatery receives. Having won awards for Best Restaurant Atmosphere, Best Foie Gras, Best Bar, and so much more from Rhode Island Monthly alone (not to mention their shout-out in the New York Times), it's safe to say that people love this place. And all it takes is one visit to see why.
Located at 14 Imperial Place in Providence, CAV Restaurant first opened its doors in 1989.
The business was launched by the late great Sylvia Moubayed, who wanted to create a one-of-a-kind atmosphere and experience for all visitors.
Sylvia Moubayed, who passed away in 2017 at the age of 80, was a beloved member of the community -- and her hospitable nature and elegant taste remains in the establishment she created.
CAV stands for Cocktails, Antiques, and Victuals, and you'll find plenty of all of those things here.
If you love beautiful details, you'll love this restaurant -- everything you see is intentional.
The bar was crafted in 1864 from rich mahogany.
If it's been a while since you've ordered anything but takeout, this place is perfect for your first sit-down restaurant meal.
The ambiance here is out of this world, which is why this is such a perfect special occasion spot.
Speaking of out of this world, the food here does not disappoint.
You'll find a long list of appetizers and small plates on the dinner menu, along with some extremely impressive entrees.
CAV serves weekend brunch, lunch and dinner daily, and they also offer a smaller bistro menu from Monday - Wednesday at dinner time.
Seafood, pasta, and meat-based entrees dominate the menu, although there are always at least a few meatless options to choose from.
If you imbibe, do yourself a favor and order a cocktail or something from the impressive wine list.
And if you save room for dessert, you definitely will not regret it.
CAV Restaurant is a stunning place to dine, and the mouthwatering cuisine and top notch service only enhance the experience.
They open daily at 11:30 aside from Saturday and Sunday, when they open at 10 a.m. for brunch.
