It is hard to put into words what Al Forno restaurant means to the city of Providence, Rhode Island. This landmark restaurant has been a destination for almost 40 years. Co-owners Johanne Killeen & George Germon, two young artists who were a husband and wife team, one a photographer, one a sculptor. The restaurant is two floors of bustling activity decorated with an artists touch. Here is where the legend began, when they invented grilled pizza attempting to create the wood-fired pizzas they discovered in Italy. The results speak for themselves, with pizza that guests can’t stop talking about (for years). Al Forno is much more than a pizzeria though. It is a wonderful fine dining experience with an array of delicious items on the menu and a wonderful atmosphere.
