Look for the tiny parking lot, which fits maybe three cars max, on Conanicus Avenue, and slip into one of the open spaces.
To explore this natural attraction, follow the Conanicut Island Sanctuary Nature Walk, a short but sweet path that tallies just under a mile.
While the kid-friendly path is considered easy, keep an eye out for tree roots. It can also get a bit muddy, depending on the weather.
Unfortunately, dogs are not permitted on this trail that's home to Marsh Meadows. An informational placard offers insight into the salt marsh.
The path will lead you along several boardwalks, and you'll have plenty of photo-worthy moments at the two scenic overlooks.
If you're not in a hurry, sit on one of the benches. Breathe in the fresh air, and drink in the beauty of the natural landscape.
The natural area is home to a variety of birds, including osprey and egrets.
