Steeped in history – it’s known as the birthplace of the oil industry in the United States – this charming small town with just over 5,200 residents promises plenty to do, whether you want to spend time outdoors or indulge in a blast from the past.
Titusville is perhaps best known as the home of the Drake Well, the United States’ first oil well, making a trip to Drake Well Museum and Park a must-visit.
You’ll journey back through 150 years of oil history when you go on a tour of the indoor museum before exploring the outdoor exhibits that include a replica of the historic well.
One of the best ways to really get to know Titusville, and the surrounding area, is aboard a scenic train ride with the Oil Creek & Titusville Railroad.
The three-hour train ride takes you from Titusville to nearby Oil Creek State Park. Along with the stunning scenery, you’ll be treated to a lively narrative. Oil Creek & Titusville Railroad also offers fall foliage rides.
If you’re up for venturing about half an hour from Titusville, spend some time exploring Oil Creek State Park in nearby Oil City. It features a full menu of activities – hiking, kayaking, picnicking, biking, and more.
