What's better than candy? Well, nothing, really...Except maybe a trip to an old-fashioned candy store that's chock full of all of our favorite candy from yesterday and today and out-of-this-world treats (hint, hint) we might never have expected to find. But, that's just the tip of the sugary-sweet iceberg. When you visit this delightfully charming candy shop, fill up a box of your favorite candy from the world famous candy buffet in Pennsylvania.
Tucked in the eclectic neighborhood of the Strip District in Pittsburgh, Grandpa Joe's Candy Shop offers something for everyone - from the little ones to those of us on the hunt for our favorite old time candies.
But, the masterpiece of the old school candy shop just might be the world famous $5 candy buffet.
That's right. For just $5, you can fill a box with an assortment of goodies, including Tootsie Rolls, lollipops, Runts, and Swedish Fish.
Stuff as much candy - from a variety of more than 100 - as you can into that white box. But, make sure the lid closes. Does it close? Then, you'll pay just five bucks. Not bad, huh?
Oh, that's just the beginning. You've still got to check out the rest of the store. How about picking up some wax lips like the good ole days? Or, maybe some Laffy Taffy and gold coins?
Pickle people! Can you really walk out of the front door without pickle cotton candy, pickle pop, and pickle candy canes?
And, don't forget to try some of the out-of-this-world goodies. Yep, Grandpa Joe's sells astronaut ice cream sandwiches in traditional vanilla and in Neapolitan.
Wait! There's more...more than 200 flavors of old-fashioned pop (or soda, depending on where in the state you live) in glass bottles. What kind will you try? Birch beer? Ginger Beer? Or, bacon?
Dig into your $5 box of candy as you watch Willy Wonka at Grandpa Joe's Candy Shop, open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Or, stop by Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., or Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
