Oregon is home to dozens of fun fall festivals, but there's one annual event that we've all been eagerly anticipating, and it's right around the corner. Make plans now to visit the town of Tualatin for the West Coast Giant Pumpkin Regatta.
2018 marks the 14th annual West Coast Giant Pumpkin Regatta, which is held at the Lake at Tualatin commons. This year, the festival takes place on October 20, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m..
The festival kicks off with a Regatta Run 5k to benefit a scholarship fund. The race honors Corporal Matthew Lembke, who lost his life while serving a third tour of duty in Afghanistan.
As soon as the 5k is over, the gigantic pumpkins arrive to be weighed. These humongous gourds weigh as much as 1,000 pounds!
The pumpkin races start promptly at 2 p.m.. You don't want to miss these crazy paddlers, who dress up in crazy costumes.
Even if you're not paddling, you'll want to wear your costume to this event - there's a costume contest at 11 a.m..
Have some pumpkin fun with a game of pumpkin bowling, pumpkin tic-tac-toe, or pumpkin checkers.
Win prizes at pumpkin golf, where you'll try to land your golf ball in a floating pumpkin on the lake.
Cabella's sets up their archery and BB gun ranges so you can practice your skills.
Pay a visit to the Tualatin Youth Advisory Council's tent where you can decorate a pumpkin and get your face painted.
Make sure to check out the artistic pumpkin-carving talent of Tim Pate and Tom Lindskog.
Village Inn will host a pumpkin pie eating contest on the main stage. Stop by at 10 a.m. to sign up.
