Located next to Oregon's Lake Aspen and nestled among eight acres of pine forest, wetland, and meadow habitats, Sunriver Nature Center & Observatory is your gateway to the natural world, far-distant galaxies, and everything in between.
To accomplish this, Sunriver hosts a variety of kids' and community programming, as well as open-house hours in both its nature center and observatory.
The largest of its kind in the country, Sunriver Observatory offers guests the opportunity to revel in awe-inspiring, unrivaled views of the night sky. Afterwards, join one of Sunriver's astronomers for a laser-guided constellation tour.
Sunriver’s elevation, dark skies, little light pollution, and clear air, make it the perfect location for stargazing in Oregon. Over a dozen telescopes ranging in size and focused at different objects in the night sky are available for enjoying spectacular views -- and (just like the universe) the Observatory is expanding.
The additions to the Observatory include more exhibit space, a new electronic roof, and six additional telescopes, one of which shows solar prominence around the sun.
From crystal-clear views of the moon and far-away planets, to celestial clusters and nebulas, you'll be positively starstruck (see what we did there?!) by the views at Sunriver Observatory.
