There’s An Enchanting Oasis Hiding In Plain Sight Just Miles From Oregon’s Largest City

This sublime little sanctuary is located mere minutes from the hum and buzz of busy Portland, so you can escape into nature on a moment’s notice.
Located 20 minutes outside of Portland, Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) is one of only a handful of urban national wildlife refuges in the country.
There is a one-mile long nature trail here that meanders through a variety of habitats, wildlife viewpoints, and interpretive stops, culminating in an expansive view at the wetland observation deck.
The Tualatin River NWR is one of Oregon's loveliest and most accessible hidden gems. The next time you need some time in nature, pay a visit to this pristine and picturesque preserve.
The preserve is open 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Tuesday-Sunday, and closed on Mondays. The best part? Admission to this glorious place is free!
