The Fries And Ice Cream At This Oregon Seaside Restaurant Are The Duo You’ll Desire
What are your favorite indulgences? For us, ice cream and fries top the list, and we’ve found a restaurant that specializes in both! Check out Frite and Scoop in Astoria:
The next time you find yourself in Astoria, you'll want to stop by Frite & Scoop for a treat. You'll find it right along the Riverwalk, with a great view of the Columbia.
Address: 175 14th Street, Astoria, OR, 97103
Kevin and Lisa Malcolm opened the shop in 2014, and it's been scooping up the tastiest hand-crafted ice cream, and serving the yummiest fries ever since.
The Belgian frites are not the basic French fries you get elsewhere. They're made with fresh Kennebec potatoes, and they're fried twice to achieve the perfect crunch...
...then they're tossed in salt and drizzled with your choice of rosemary-infused oil, garlic-infused oil, or hot honey. Choose from 11 different dipping sauces that range from sweet to spicy.
Hand-crafted ice cream is the perfect accompaniment to your frites. The French custard-style ice cream is made in small batches, and the flavors change from day to day.
Start by choosing your cone: sugar, cake, or krumkake (a kind of waffle cone). You can also get your scoop in a bowl or a krumkake bowl.
With 12 different flavors to choose from every day, you're going to want to visit this place time and time again.
Some of the favorites include Foggy Lemon (Earl grey and vanilla bean custard with housemade lemon curd), Chocolate Milk & Cookies (malted chocolate custard with Oreo pieces), and Golden Milk (turmeric, black pepper, cinnamon, and ginger, with housemade coconut toffee).
Hokey Pokey is the signature flavor here. It's a sweet cream custard with homemade honeycomb toffee. You've never had anything like it!
You can also choose some unique toppings for your ice cream, like housemade potato chip pieces.
Crunchy, salty frites and creamy, sweet ice cream compliment each other perfectly, and we can't think of a better snack!
If you just can't get enough of the creamy, homemade ice cream, take a pint home with you.
Frite & Scoop is open seven days a week, so plan your trip soon.
