11 Strange Habits Every Oklahoman Will Defend To The Death
You’ve probably already realized Oklahomans are a great bunch of people, who share quite a few of the same habits. We may not think they’re strange, but at least to outsiders they seem a bit out of the ordinary. Here are 11 of them we find normal and will defend to the death.
1. Being extremely friendly to strangers.
We'll strike up a conversation with anyone, especially about the weather. We may not be the only friendly ones out there, but you definitely won't find people like us everywhere.
2. Obsessing over BBQ.
Yes, we obsess over it and we're proud of it. If you don't obsess over bbq, there might be something wrong with you (or, so we think).
3. And waiting in long lines for our favorite.
Just go to the best bbq joints and you'll see what we're talking about. The best is worth the wait.
4. Wearing cowboy boots everywhere.
From weddings to football games to family pictures, you'll find us in boots.
5. Chasing tornadoes instead of hiding from them.
It's engrained in us and we can't help it. From the moment we hear the tornado alarms, we run outside.
6. Getting excited for Quiktrip summer drink prices.
As soon as Quiktrip drops their drink prices for summer, a celebration occurs across the state. Many times we'll stop in more than once a day and fill up.
7. Spending our summers floating down the rivers.
We spend our summers in every river, creek, lake or spring, but a float trip is one of our favorites.
8. And going to the lakes.
With all the lakes in our state, there's one right around the corner to cool off in during the hot, summer months.
9. Frying everything.
We fry everything from our vegetables to our cheese to our desserts.
10. Helping those in need.
Oklahomans are always looking out for each other. If someone needs a car pushed or jumped, it's not long until someone stops to help.
11. Putting ranch on everything.
We'll put ranch on everything from pizza to chicken nuggets to french fries.
Is always easy to spot someone who’s not from Oklahoma. They don’t share our same habits.
Here’s 12 ways to always spot them.
