As a whole, 59.35% of people in the state of Oklahoma identify as religious, meaning they affiliate with a religion (compared to the U.S. average of 48.78%). According to Sperling's Best Places, the following 15 counties in Oklahoma have the highest percentages of people who consider themselves as religious (along with the top 3 religions in each county).
15. Latimer County
With a population of approximately 11,099, Latimer County reports 67.64 percent of its residents identifying as religious. About 57.64 percent identify as Baptist, 4.36 percent identify as Pentecostal and 2.08 percent identify as Methodist.
14. Beckham County
Beckham County's population is approximately 22,519, with 68.14 percent of its residents identifying as religious. About 39.43 percent identify as Baptist, 7.86 percent identify as Pentecostal and 7.76 percent identify as other Christian.
13. Atoka County
Atoka County's population is approximately 14,133, with 68.52 percent of its residents identifying as religious. About 54.13 percent identify as Baptist, 7.13 percent identify as other Christian and 3.39 percent identify as other Methodist.
12. Pushmataha County
With a population of approximately 11,449, Pushmataha County reports 68.61 percent of its residents identifying as religious. About 53.42 percent identify as Baptist, 7.33 percent identify as Pentecostal and 4.11 percent identify as Methodist.
11. Noble County
With a population of approximately 11,540, Noble County reports 69.15 percent of its residents identifying as religious. About 40.52 percent identify as Baptist, 9.71 percent identify as Methodist and 6.34 percent identify as Lutheran.
10. Washington County
Washington County's population is approximately 51,112, with 70.22 percent of its residents identifying as religious. About 32.94 percent identify as Baptist, 12.28 percent identify as Methodist and 11.41 percent identify as other Christian.
9. Oklahoma County
Oklahoma County's population is approximately 721,088, with 72.50 percent of its residents identifying as religious. About 27.85 percent identify as Baptist, 13.29 percent identify as Methodist and 12.62 percent identify as other Christian.
8. Ottawa County
With a population of approximately 31,940, Ottawa County reports 72.62 percent of its residents identifying as religious. About 50.53 percent identify as Baptist, 6.52 percent identify as Methodist and 4.68 percent identify as Pentecostal.
7. Muskogee County
With a population of approximately 70,635, Muskogee County reports 72.95 percent of its residents identifying as religious. About 42.56 percent identify as Baptist, 9.21 percent identify as Methodist and 8.22 percent identify as other Christian.
6. Garvin County
Garvin County's population is approximately 27,471, with 74.10 percent of its residents identifying as religious. About 53.02 percent identify as Baptist, 8.10 percent identify as Methodist and 6.40 percent identify as other Christian.
5. Custer County
Custer County's population is approximately 27,583, with 74.74 percent of its residents identifying as religious. About 42.75 percent identify as Baptist, 11.73 percent identify as Methodist and 6.03 percent identify as other Christian.
4. Woodward County
With a population of approximately 20,232, Woodward County reports 75.10 percent of its residents identifying as religious. About 39.64 percent identify as Baptist, 15.78 percent identify as Methodist and 8.79 percent identify as Catholic.
3. Kingfisher County
With a population of approximately 14,965, Kingfisher County reports 76.41 percent of its residents identifying as religious. About 33.50 percent identify as Baptist, 16.94 percent identify as Catholic and 11.94 percent identify as Methodist.
2. Caddo County
Caddo County's population is approximately 29,403, with 78.30 percent of its residents identifying as religious. About 53.84 percent identify as Baptist, 10.03 percent identify as Methodist and 6.48 percent identify as Pentecostal.
1. Choctaw County
Choctaw County's population is approximately 15,172, with 87.83 percent of its residents identifying as religious. About 46.60 percent identify as Baptist, 49.41 percent identify as Other Christian and 5.10 percent identify as Methodist.
