The Timeless Ohio Restaurant Everyone Needs To Visit At Least Once

The Spread Eagle Tavern and Inn in Hanoverton was built in the mid-1800s and has been frequented by a handful of U.S. presidents throughout the years. It’s a historic gem and timeless restaurant everyone in Ohio needs to experience at least once. Check it out:
This historic inn and restaurant was originally built in 1837 in the Federalist style by masons of the canal boom.
Today, the restaurant serves exceptional lunch and dinner in its original atmosphere.
When you enter this gem of a restaurant, you'll feel like no time has passed since the mid-1800s.
Throughout the restaurant, you'll see several fireplaces that make you feel cozy and right at home.
Spread Eagle Tavern and Inn features three floors, 11 rooms and 12 fireplaces total.
In 1863, the Sandy Valley Order of Free and Accepted Masons was organized on the third floor of this historic inn, according to the restaurant's website.
It's even rumored that the Spread Eagle Tavern and Inn was a frequent stagecoach stop for Abraham Lincoln.
Just imagine if these walls could talk. Think of the stories they could tell!
Today, there are seven dining rooms available for guests, each housing a distinct charm.
Before or after dinner, cocktails and hors d'oeuvres are available in the Patrick Henry Tavern Room, according to the restaurant's website.
Gaver's Rathskeller (pictured) features 12-foot high vaulted brick ceilings and hand-chiseled stone walls.
It's a truly unique room in the restaurant that gives you a rare glimpse into the 19th-century.
One the menu, you'll find everything from fine dining options...

...to some pretty epic burgers and other casual American eats.

In the warmer months, the outdoor patio seating is a lovely option.
But with such amazing food, great service and a timeless atmosphere, there really is no bad seat in the house here.
