1) Lake Erie
Ohio's very own Great Lake serves as arguably the state's best place to fish, especially in the Put-In-Bay area. Walleye, largemouth bass and smallmouth bass are often caught at this fisherman favorite lake.
2) Little Beaver Creek
Approximately 63 species of fish can be found within Beaver Creek State Park. Smallmouth bass and rock bass are popular fish caught here.
3) Portage Lakes
Largemouth bass abound within these six lakes, which cover 2,000 acres and stretch for more than 6 miles of shoreline.
4) Conneaut Creek
Practically famous for its steelhead trout fishing, this creek in Conneaut is home to more than 70 fish species, according to Fly, Rod and Reel magazine. Smallmouth bass, walleye, muskie and trout are other popular catches here.
5) Mogadore Reservoir
This family favorite fishing spot near Akron is yet another prime spot for largemouth bass fishing.
6) Ohio River
Smallmouth bass abound within the Ohio River. Fishing in this river is particularly best in the Willow Island, Hannibal and Pike Island pools, according to Game and Fish magazine.
7) Clear Fork Reservoir
Within the Richland and Morrow counties, this reservoir provides prime largemouth bass fishing.
8) Great Miami River

9) Grand River
Fairport Harbor, where the Grand River meets Lake Erie, provides a prime location for fishing, especially for smallmouth bass.
10) Hoover Reservoir
