Well, Buckeye State bridge enthusiasts, we have an adventure for you! There is an Ohio State Park with not one, but two glorious bridges — a covered bridge *and* a swinging bridge — providing a grand adventure that’s just plain delightful.
Would you believe this lovely expanse is right here, in Ohio? It's true! Located in northeastern Ohio, the 1,110-acre Mohican State Park and the adjacent 4,525-acre state forest offer unrivaled opportunities for visitors to explore one of the state's most stunning natural regions.
The gorge is more than 1,000 feet wide at the top and more than 300 feet deep -- a 29-acre state nature preserve characterized by its old-growth White Pine and Eastern Hemlock forest. It's one of many enchanting places throughout Mohican State Park.
The Mohican Covered Bridge is one of them. Dedicated in 1968 and spanning the scenic Clear Fork River, the bridge is a popular spot at Mohican State Park. It’s located on Mohican Road 58, near the trailhead to the popular two-mile Lyons Falls Trail.
The bridge spans 120 feet and leads explorers across the Clear Fork of the Mohican State Scenic River connecting the Hemlock Gorge Trail with the Gorge Overlook Trail. This gorgeous bridge is a whimsical and fun addition to the park's robust trail system.
...there's the Wolf Creek Grist Mill! Constructed in 1831, the Wolf Creek (Pine Run) Grist Mill is located literally in Mohican State Park, and it's open to the public as a working museum. What a grand finale to your adventure at Mohican State Park!
