Rider's Inn in Painesville, Ohio is a historic treasure Ohio history buffs will love. It's a bed and breakfast, restaurant and pub that was once a stop on the Underground Railroad. You'll never forget your stay (or a meal) here. Check it out:
Since the early 1800s, this historic inn has stood the test of time. It served as both a restaurant and inn along the Oregon Trail and the Underground Railroad.
You'll find it at 792 Mentor Ave., Painesville, OH 44077.
Slaves passing through could find refuge in the basement when a light in the uppermost southern part of the building was on.
For several years, the inn was run by Joe Rider and his family. The inn's current owner and operator, Elaine
Crane, continues to preserve the legacy and historic integrity of the building.
Today, you can stay in one of the 10 guest rooms. Each have their own historic charm and range in price from $90 - $155 a night.

If you're not able to spend the night, you can always stop into the restaurant or pub for a delicious meal and some spirits.
Lunch is served from 11:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. on Monday - Saturday and dinner is served from 4:30 p.m. - 9 p.m. on Sunday - Thursday, as well as 4:30 p.m. - 11 p.m. (or later) on Friday - Saturday. The pub is open late on Monday - Sunday, starting at 8 p.m. each night.
Parts of the inn are also rumored to be haunted—but don't let that stop you from exploring this irreplaceable piece of Ohio history.
