Hidden just minutes from Interstate 71 and tucked away off a busy state route, there’s one beautiful lake that’s a slice of paradise. Lake Medina is truly off the beaten path, and while it is tucked away in the countryside, its location is central to several additional attractions to make your trip worthwhile. Of course, when the landscape is bathed in hues of gold and red during the autumn months, it alone makes the trip to go hiking at Lake Medina worth it. Gas up the car and hit the road, because we’re taking a short drive down into Medina County!
With a massive multi-lane road and several stoplights to maintain traffic flow, it's almost hard to imagine that such a slice of paradise exists just off the beaten path. However, Lake Medina brushes up against Route 18 and Granger Road, and it's well worth a visit.
While the lake was once used as a water supply for locals, it has since been retired. Since 2003, in-the-know locals have been appreciating it as a park in the Medina County Park District. While humans no longer consume the water, local wildlife sure does! Bald eagles are a regular visitor here, and the love hunting for fish in the massive lake.

I especially enjoy the park right before sunset. As the sun is sinking down to meet the tree canopy, mist often rises from the massive lake to dance toward the sky. Cicadas and other local residents start to sing, creating a truly magical picture.
You may know the Rocky River from its Cleveland stretch, but it's every bit as lovely down here in the countryside. With charming footbridges to help you cross it, you'll love the beauty of this scenic spot.

The lovely Medina Sunflower Farm is just a short drive away, and it's truly stunning. You'll adore the views, and you'll appreciate keeping the beauty going when you take home a few sunflower clippings to enjoy. As a heads up, this spot is cash only, so make sure you have a bit on you if you are planning a stop.
If you keep heading west on Route 18 after you visit the lake, the road will take you right into the heart of Historic Medina Square. This lovely town square exudes small town vibes, and you'll love its collection of small local businesses.
