In the autumn, nothing is quite as comforting as warm Midwestern charm. There is something magical about how that charm interacts with the scenery of quaint small towns, and Clevelanders are fortunate to have a variety of small towns under an hour away from the bustling metropolis. There’s one in particular that becomes something truly magical in the late fall and early winter months, and you truly must see it to believe it.

Medina is one of Northeast Ohio's most cherished secrets. This incredible community is the county seat, though it is not the largest city in this lovely county. About 27,000 residents call it home.

Lined with adorable mom and pop shops, delectable restaurants, and incredible architectural gems, this district promises an unforgettable time. Interestingly, this historic region has suffered two traumatic fires: one in 1848 and one in 1870.

A variety of events, including ladies' nights out and seasonal activities, bring a buzz of activity to this charming region. Crowds are not an uncommon sight in this area, so if you plan a trip, be sure to allow some extra time to find a parking spot.

This town could truly pass for the heart and soul of small-town Northeast Ohio. Each year, this picturesque community kicks off the holiday season with an unforgettable celebration and a cornucopia of lights. If you have time to kill this weekend, you simply must swing by. Festivities continue through 6 p.m. on Sunday, November 19th.

Uptown Park sets the scene for a variety of events and quiet evenings alike.

The Medina County Park District maintains several lovely parks, comparable to a small-scale Cleveland Metroparks. Swing by Lake Medina or the Chippewa Trail to experience incredible scenery.

Not only is the atmosphere of this community flawlessly preserved, but its history is celebrated openly and with fervor. The Amos Ives Root Homestead and the Root Candles Factory are perhaps two of the most notable attractions in town, dating back to the 1860s.
