Cincinnati’s Favorite Holiday Tradition Is Back and It’s Better Than Ever
There are many Christmas traditions in Cincinnati that create unforgettable family memories. The month of December can be a busy time if you try and fit in all of the festive fun our city offers. This season, you’ll want to save time for one particular event that is back and better than ever after a 12-year hiatus. WinterFest at Kings Island is a magical winter wonderland that is the holiday event of the year in Cincinnati.
Kings Island is one of the most popular attractions in the Cincinnati area, and for years many have wondered if and when the park would ever bring back its legendary WinterFest.

We now have an answer and WinterFest returned to the Warren County amusement park this season, after missing from the Cincinnati calendar for the past 12 years. For select nights through December 30th, the park is illuminated and filled with countless exciting activities that everyone will enjoy.
One of the most memorable experiences from past WinterFests is ice skating on the Royal Fountain. This beloved activity is back along with many other incredible experiences.
There is an extra fee for ice skating, but you get to glide across the ice between endless twinkling lights and the Eiffel Tower turned Christmas tree hovering above. The park is actually filled with over 5 million lights, making it an enchanting place to simply stroll through and look around.
Aside from the light displays, the park is organized into nine winter wonderlands, each with their own attractions, activities, food, and rides.
There are several rides open for the kids, as well as the Grand Carousel and the epic roller coaster, Mystic Timbers. But keep in mind, not all rides are open during the event. There's so much to do, though, that you’ll hardly notice!
The enthusiastic crowds at WinterFest so far this year are proof that Cincinnati missed this treasured holiday tradition.
