The Waterfront Restaurant Near Cincinnati That’s Loads Of Fun For The Whole Family

Since Cincinnati is situated right along the Ohio River, it only makes sense that there are several riverfront restaurants with beautiful water views. We featured many of them here, but we recently discovered a hidden gem that’s not far from downtown and is one of the most unique destinations around. Weather Oar Knot, or just “The Knot,” is a restaurant and marina in Union, Kentucky, about a half an hour from Cincinnati. This fun-filled destination serves up a full menu, including delicious pizza, and they also rent a variety of boats for water fun for the whole family.

Union is located just down the Ohio and considered a southern suburb of Cincinnati, though it is located in Northern Kentucky.

One of the amazing waterfront features in Union is Weather Oar Knot, a marina and restaurant on Gunpowder Creek. This creek flows right to the Ohio River, making it a great stop if you're already on the water.
If you arrive by car to The Knot, you'll find a few blue-roofed buildings, one of which houses a full-service restaurant with a large outdoor deck.

If you are on a boat and enjoying a ride on the river, look for the sign above to help guide you up Gunpowder Creek.

It's located between mile marker 513 and 514. You can pull your boat right up to the marina and hop out for some food, drinks, and any other needs you may have for your boat.
The large menu at Weather Oar Knot includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and has everything from pizza to burgers to salads.

The pizza is a favorite and many call it one of the best in our area. It also happens to taste even better when enjoyed outside on the deck.
Their daily specials are worth a try as well, and their sweet treats - such as soft serve ice cream - are perfect for the youngest visitors.

A trip to Weather Oar Knot can be more than just a dining excursion, especially if you rent a boat from the marina.

The Knot rents pontoon boats, kayaks, and canoes, and for a number of different time frames.
It's really the ideal set up for a summer day of family fun.

Arrive in the morning for breakfast, take your rented boat out for a few hours, then stop back for another meal.
On the weekends, you'll also find live music, and it's always a family-friendly environment.

Weather Oar Knot is open Tuesday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. If you are just going to eat, there's no need to call ahead, but if you would like to rent a boat, give them a call at (859) 384-0634 to check availability.
The Knot is such a wonderful concept, as a family-friendly restaurant and marina right on the water and a destination you'll want to check out for yourself.
