America’s Oldest Candy Cane Maker Can Be Found Just Outside Of Cincinnati And You’ll Want To Visit
If you had to pick one piece of candy that symbolizes the holiday season, the obvious choice would be the candy cane. This red and white striped sweet treat is as festive as it gets, and we are lucky here in Cincinnati to be able to get our hands on the best of the best candy canes. Doscher’s Candy Co. has been around since 1871 and continue to hand make their candy canes, and other treats to this day. They now have a retail space in their new location in Newtown that you’ll definitely want to visit this season!
Doscher's Candy Co. moved from downtown Cincinnati to a historic home and property in Newtown, Ohio.
This move allowed them to expand and provide more sweet experiences for candy lovers. The company was founded in 1871 by Claus Doscher (yes, spelled like Santa Claus), and was purchased by a local family in 2015. They have big plans for this Cincinnati legend!
The first step was to open a charming retail shop in the idyllic yellow, historic home.
The retail store is open Monday - Saturday 10am to 3pm until December 23rd. You'll find plenty of their delicious candies - including their famous candy canes and french chews - as well as other gifts and decor.
It's sure to become a Cincinnati holiday tradition.
There are other things in the works for the enchanting space! One of the lovely rooms, called the Tea Room, will be available at some point in the new year for showers, business meetings, and other gatherings.
When you visit the retail shop, you won't be far from where the magic happens!
The candy kitchen is in a brand new facility behind the yellow house, where they hand make their creations. They will soon offer tours of this one-of-a-kind candy production.
