Ohio’s Chinese Lantern Festival Will Mesmerize You In The Best Way Possible

This time of year brings about extraordinary festivals in the great state of Ohio. From Christmas tree lighting ceremonies, to holiday parades and decorated Main Streets, there's no shortage of seasonal cheer. And there's one festival in particular that seems to transcend the expected in the best way possible: the Chinese Lantern Festival.

The opportunity to see this gorgeous display of lights in Columbus is an experience equal parts mesmerizing and intriguing. In Chinese culture, these lanterns traditionally represent prosperity and have been used for nearly 2,000 years in various celebrations. You'll find that Ohio's display of lights carries this tradition beautifully.

The lanterns, crafted by Chinese artisans, will be luminously displayed at the Natural Resources Park in Columbus until January 2nd of this year.

Over 39 displays will light up the park, creating the most dazzling attraction for residents near and far.

These beautiful lanterns are created form silk fabric, and take the form of flowers, safari animals, and more.

Visitors can wander through archways decorated with flowered lanterns and lose themselves in larger-than-life tulips. Even on the chilliest Ohio nights, this scenery is not to be missed.

Perhaps most famous of all is the 200-foot long dragon, stealing the show with hundreds of LED lights.

The vibrancy and color of these lights is an experience like no other. Even these gorgeous pictures hardly do justice to the experience of being there.

In addition to exquisite displays, there will also be authentic Chinese performances by skilled dancers, performers of martial arts, and even umbrella jugglers. The experience is nothing short of magical.

Admission cost is $15 (less for children 3-7, Military, and seniors) and includes viewing of all displays and performances. Food and drink will be available for an added price, and parking will be just $5.

This extraordinary festival is a wonderful way to bring Ohio residents and visitors together to honor an incredible Chinese tradition.
