The McCloud River skirts around the Mount Shasta area and is a beauty to behold. There are 3 waterfalls, the upper, middle and lower, that each make great swimming holes in the summer month. The lower that is probably the most accessible and popular place to cliff jump and swim.
The Lower McCloud falls is loved by visitors and locals alike. On a hot day, many people gather here to cool off and take a breather.
Adventure enthusiasts will love this place and the cold water feels great. The rush of the falls and the laughter of all the visitors will put your mind at ease. This idyllic spot will soon become one of your favorites after spending time here.
Daredevils love this spot just as much as the rest of us, and it's fun watching the young, athletic thrill seekers enjoying this beautiful spot. The 15-20 foot drop is intimidating, but fun!
You can still swim in the pool below the falls without having to take the plunge from up high, however. These folks are climbing out of the water after jumping in, but you can easily scramble down to the water's edge, too.
You can also walk down the McCloud River Trail if you feel like a stroll. It will connect you with the Middle and Upper Falls that are also located on the McCloud River.
Despite the popularity in the summer, it's less common to see folks there in the winter. You might see patches of snow, however. This shot was taken in December.
