When it comes to springtime wildflower hunting, there's one destination in Northern California that never disappoints. North Table Mountain Ecological Reserve completely transforms in the weeks leading up to summer, and it's a colorful sight you'll want to witness.
Located in Oroville, Table Mountain was created by ancient lava flows thousands of years ago. Today, it displays some of the most rich natural scenery, including seasonal streams, waterfalls, vernal pools, and plenty of vibrant spring wildflowers.
The mountain's lush greenery is one thing, but seeing all that green landscape covered in multi-colored wildflowers takes it to a whole other level. The flowers that grow at Table Mountain are mostly purple and yellow, and together they create an ocean of vibrant color.
Comprised of 3,200 acres, there's plenty of wide-open space to explore at North Table Mountain. The flowers are known to begin blooming in mid-March and through late April/early May. Timing is everything when it comes to viewing the spring bloom, and if you time it correctly you'll be generously rewarded with the most beautiful, postcard-worthy scene.
Among some of the flowers you'll spot are lupine, foothill triteleia, Sierra primroses, purple owl's clover, and poppies. Make it your goal to spot as many species of wildflowers as you can, and don't forget to bring your camera.

Keep in mind while exploring this beautiful mesa that removing, collecting, or disturbing any natural resource is strongly prohibited.
Table Mountain is by far one of the most spectacular springtime sights in Northern California. You can find it by hopping on Highway 70 from Oroville, exiting at Grand Ave, and driving east for one mile. You'll turn left on Table Mountain Boulevard and right on Cherokee Road before arriving at the parking lot on the west side.
