This Unique Rail Biking Experience In Northern California Belongs On Your Bucket List
Hitting the open road under your own pedal power is a great way to get exercise. But if you’d like to do it without worrying about navigating through traffic, embarking upon a rail bike is a unique outdoor adventure in the Sacramento area.

The line, which extends approximately 28 miles, was originally built by the Northern Electric Company in 1911. In the beginning, it was a passenger line, later changing to a carrier for diesel freight.

The rail bikes are built for one or two passengers, and if you don’t have your own, the company provides a helmet.

The route traverses through the Yolo County countryside along the Sacramento River, providing spectacular up-close-and-personal views.

If you need a little break, or if the grade of a hill is a bit too much for you, there is an optional motorized assist that you can engage to keep you rolling along.

A day on the rails would make a great outing for corporate teambuilding, a group of friends, or a special event such as a family reunion, anniversary, birthday...you name it!

If you prefer to ride the train, the River Fox Train Company offers an array of travel themes including Happy Hour, Fancy Hat Tea, beer and wine, Valentine’s, and other excursions.
Great exercise, fresh air, picturesque views, and great memories. These are just a few reasons why a rail bike adventure should be on your Sacramento area adventure bucket list.
