Pennyroyal Farm is a winery, creamery, and farmstead located in Boonville, California. This place is the perfect combination of two amazing things: wine and cheese.

This family-run farm has kept sheep for over 25 years, but it wasn't until 2006 when they began operating as a vineyard and creamery. The farmstead is completely devoted to minimize the use of fossil fuels and they depend on solar panels to power the farmstead.

Visitors are welcome for tours of the creamery, milking parlor, and solar-powered barn. Tours are available daily at 11 am and 2 pm for only $20 ($10 for kids) and include a cheese and wine tasting.

On the tour, you'll learn about all the methods for creating their handcrafted cheeses. Windows in the creamery allow guests to view the cheese-making process at each stage. You'll get to witness inoculation, cutting and molding of the curds, and the packaging of the cheeses.

The love that goes into crafting these beautiful cheeses is apparent. Each cheese is named from Boontling which is Boonville's unique language that originated sometime in the 19th century.

Of course, a visit to their vineyard is a must. Enjoy a glass of one of their amazing wines on their patio while taking in the beautiful setting. Their tasting room is open seven days a week from 10 am to 5 pm. Don't forget to pick up a few bottles to take home.

The Estate Chef prepares a limited menu for the tasting room on weekdays, but you'll definitely want to visit on a weekend for their "Farm to Table" lunch. Each dish is made from their own seasonal farmstead ingredients.
