This Dreamy Beach Campground In Northern California Belongs On Your Bucket List
Camping season is here and we are loving every minute of it. Northern California is full of pristine campgrounds and choosing which one you’d like to visit can become a major challenge. A plethora of questions fill your mind. Do you want to camp next to water? In the mountains? How about in the forest? There are so many options to choose from! However, you can never go wrong with camping on the beach. Our beaches are our pride and joy. You could spend a lifetime exploring them and not see everything they have to offer. Regardless, a weekend camping trip is a good place to start.
Boasting nearly 100 campsites, Bodega Dunes Campground is absolute heaven on earth. With the beach just a stone's throw away and endless adventures to be had exploring the coastline, this campground boasts everything you need for a dreamy getaway.
The campground contains an abundance of campsites, and for good reason. They often fill up. With scenery like this, how can you blame them? The campsites are tucked away in the sand dunes and many of them are shaded by Monterey cypress trees, just a short walk away from the ocean.
You'll find both tent camping and RV sites available here. Although you'll be camping on sand, the campsites are quite comfortable with bathrooms, hot showers, potable water, and even a little dish-washing station at each site. You might find yourself getting a little
too comfortable among the beautiful scenery.
Now this is what camping on the beach should be all about! If you're the type of person that likes to set up a hammock and relax while taking in the natural beauty, you'll find that this is the perfect place. However, there are all sorts of adventures waiting to be had if you're the type that likes to venture around.
First off, you'll want to make your way to the extraordinary day-use area which includes an ADA accessible boardwalk that overlooks the beach. It makes for the perfect spot to search for whales in the distance or simply view the sunset over the waves.
You could spend hours combing the beach, flying kites, or enjoying a picnic while watching the ocean tides. Although dogs are allowed in the campground, they are unfortunately not allowed on the beach. Fires are also restricted on the beach in order to protect the endangered Western Snowy Plover, which you might be lucky enough to see in their natural habitat.
There are numerous hiking trails to take advantage of, as well. The dunes are a must-see and you simply haven't lived until you've hiked on one.
The Bodega Dunes are a little slice of paradise in Sonoma County. The campground boasts tranquility and an abundance of natural beauty, making it a shoe-in to become your new favorite place to camp on the beach.
