Dining out in the Tar Heel State rarely means heading to a restaurant quite as unique as the following eatery. This one-of-a-kind establishment holds the distinction of being the largest shipping container restaurant in America. But, we're not surprised. Afterall, North Carolina is known for setting trends. And where else would you expect to find such a forward-thinking establishment other than Asheville?
Opened in 2015, the Smoky Park Supper Club is in the most unconventional of buildings.
The eatery is comprised of several former ocean shipping containers that have been cleverly cobbled together side by side, end to end, and even stacked to create a space that flows effortlessly and is filled with natural light.
The true novelty is even more apparent in the authentically raw interior where seams and container connections are bare and a constant reminder of the previously used and now recycled containers.
Equally as distracting (and impressive) are the menus. Smoky Park is open for evening dining and for Sunday Brunch.
True to its name, much of the menu features items smoked on site. Grouped into appetizers, plates, and desserts, the selections are ample for everyone to find something to their liking.
From a signature burger plate all the way to porks chops, a NY strip, and even a wood-roasted half-chicken, it may be difficult to choose!
Weather permitting, the huge outdoor deck along the French Broad River is an excellent choice for seating.
From all accounts, you simply can't go wrong with Smoky Park Supper Club in Asheville.
If you're not familiar with Asheville, finding it may require GPS. It's located a little off the beaten path, but oh-so worth the effort to get there!
Smoky Park Supper Club is located at 350 Riverside D.r, Asheville, NC 28801. It's open Tuesday through Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., and Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Learn more on the official website!
