UNC’s William Madison Randall Library has a History Vault which holds some of the world’s most exciting secrets. The History Vault gives researchers access to important digitized primary-source materials from the University Publications of America Collections. Imagine what you can uncover here as some of these include important papers, letters, scrapbooks, financial records, diaries, and photographs. This private room is open to the public by appointment only; reserve a time by calling a public service archivist at 910-962-7810.

The library opened in January of 1969 with an official dedication on March 30.

Since then improvements were made to the facility, including construction now on an 80,000-square-foot-addition expected to be done sometime in the fall of 2024.
The second-floor study space was installed last summer, offering new desks, LED lamps, and whiteboard surfaces.
