Live a reasonable driving distance from Clayton, North Carolina? Then add the following Christmas lights event to your calendar this year. Holiday Lights On The Neuse takes place on the Boyette Family Farm and features a hayride through a magical Christmas wonderland filled with twinkling lights and inspiring scenes. It's one holiday event you'll want to add right to the top of your Christmas bucket list.
It gets underway the last weekend in November and takes place on the weekends and some select weeknights until Christmas Eve. If you're nearby, grab a blanket and head to Clayton for a fun, family outing.
The cost is $14 for those ages three and older and is well worth the admission for all of the activities the farm offers at Christmastime.
Start off with an enchanting Christmas hayride but stay for the photo ops, cookie decorations, and sweet foods.
The holiday decor hayride at Lights On The Neuse is but one of the highlights of the evening.
Be sure to bring a cozy blanket to ward off the chill as you're whisked away on a tractor-pulled wagon and through a wonderland of twinkling light displays. The hayrides will last about 30 minutes pulled by an old-fashioned tractor. Along the way, you will be treated to festive Christmas music and elaborate light displays that depict the magic of Christmas.
For years, the Boyette Family Farm has been hosting this fun holiday event.
While you're there, get a photo with Santa's sleigh! Unfortunately, Santa himself will not be able to make it this time of year, after all, there is a lot to do to get ready for Christmas and he is needed at the North Pole.
Go ahead and put the whole family in the shot to capture the moment of a night spent out with the ones you love the most.
After, head over to the Sugar Barn where the kiddos will become busy decorating Christmas cookies.
Another fun Christmas tradition is also one of the tastest. Children and adults alike can make a culinary masterpiece on fun holiday-themed and shaped cookies. You can also purchase a gingerbread house kit and decorate it right there in the Sugar Barn or bring it home to do it later.
Making these delicious treats at Lights On The Neuse is one of the most treasured activities for the kiddos.
Plus, it keeps the mess somewhere other than on the kitchen table at home for Mom. That sounds like a win to me!
When you're finished, head over to Santa's Sweet Shoppe for Christmas candy, hot chocolate, and more.
Pick up a s'mores kit to make your own treat. Nothing tastes better on a cool evening during the holiday season than an ooey-gooey s'more and a hot cup of chocolate.
Then, take the chill out of the air by warming your hands from the toasty glow of the fire pit.
Lights On The Neuse opens Friday, November 24th, and takes place on the weekends and some select weekdays. See the full calendar of events at the Boyette Family Farm website. Learn more and stay up to date with current happenings on the official Lights On The Neuse Facebook page.
