While folks are planning for Halloween with pumpkin patches and corn mazes, don't forget about the cool kite festivals in North Carolina this fall. Kites Unlimited will host the 36th Annual Carolina Kite Festival to take place Oct. 28-29, 2023, at the Sands Villa Resort and Tom Doe Park in Atlantic Beach, with parking available at both locations. Then head on over to the Cape Fear Kite Festival Nov. 3-5, 2023. This event kicks off with a Friday Night Fly on Nov. 3 at the Courtyard by Marriott-Carolina Beach, followed by two days of flying on Nov. 4 and 5 at the Fort Fisher State Recreation Area. Both of these spectacular events are free. Let's make plans and head out to the beach for these delightful kite festivals in North Carolina.
When was the last time you flew a kite - especially on the beach - with the wind whirling around the salty air and the sounds of the surf crashing?
Come out and play for two entire days Oct. 28-29, 2023, at this free event, where all kites are welcome between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., with a possible Saturday night flight - wind and weather permitting.
It's just you and other kite fliers, without vendors or competitions.
And some of the kites are so imaginatively crafted, they become paintings in the sky giving the most extraordinary views around.
You never know who might cross your path, so join up for a chance to unite with old friends and maybe some new ones.
