The Sapphire Natural Pool In New York That’s Devastatingly Gorgeous

Like always, before I go on to talk about one of our many naturals wonders, I’m going to rant a little about how important it is that we keep them protected. When visiting any outdoor space, it’s important to follow along with the Leave No Trace principles. Basic rules to follow like always respecting nature and wildlife, disposing of your trash, and taking nothing with you that isn’t yours, help maintain standards so we can help keep some of New York’s most beautiful spaces well-preserved. With that said, the thought of summertime in New York has us dreaming about some of our favorite waterfront locations and adventures. Ready to dream about days spent in the sun? Then take a look at Peekamoose Blue Hole in New York – it will leave you speechless!

We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. While we continue to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, please take proper precautions or add them to your bucket list to see at a later date. Are there any natural lazy rivers in New York?

The natural lazy river at Ausable Chasm is the oldest natural attraction in the country! You’ll have to hike to the drop-in site, but you can join a float tour and relax as you make your way down the Grand Canyon of New York. Elsewhere, the Sacandaga Outdoor Center offers a float down their namesake river, and Lander’s River Trips takes you on a downstate float in the scenic Delaware River.

What are the top trails in New York to add to my bucket list?

If you were to ask around, just about everyone in New York will tell you to add the Watkins Glen Gorge Trail to your outdoor bucket list. It’s truly an otherworldly experience! Other amazing treks in the Empire State include the hike to Cascade Mountain in the Adirondack high peaks and the Kaaterskill Falls trail in the Catskills. Hike around the cliffs of Montauk if you want a waterfront escape! If you’re short on time, these NY trails are all three miles or under, but offer stunning views.

What is the weather like in New York in the summer?

Summer in New York is certainly known for being hot, humid, and we get plenty of stormy weather! Particularly in the mountains, afternoon thunderstorms are common. Severe storms happen without a whole lot of warning, so be sure to keep an eye on the forecast and the skies before heading out for an adventure. Be ready to move to safety if you hear thunder! If you’re camping or hiking where there isn’t great cell phone service, carry a portable weather radio to pair with the weather alert system on your phone. Even though summer storms are common, there are plenty of days where there’s not a cloud in the sky and the sun is beating down, and those days are perfect for swimming hole visits.
