Like always, before I go on to talk about one of our many naturals wonders, I'm going to rant a little about how important it is that we keep them protected. When visiting any outdoor space, it's important to follow along with the Leave No Trace principles. Basic rules to follow like always respecting nature and wildlife, disposing of your trash, and taking nothing with you that isn't yours, help maintain standards so we can help keep some of New York's most beautiful spaces well-preserved. With that said, the thought of summertime in New York has us dreaming about some of our favorite waterfront locations and adventures. Ready to dream about days spent in the sun? Then take a look at Peekamoose Blue Hole in New York - it will leave you speechless!
Tucked away in the forests of the Catskills is a destination that looks too good to be true.
Hiding within the small town of Denning in Ulster County, Peekamoose Blue Hole is one of New York's most legendary swimming holes.
Right on Rondout Creek, the blue hole features a natural slide of sorts that will bring you right into the big pool of water.
Like the ultimate natural wonder backyard playground, the blue hole attracts adventurers from all over New York.
You'll find big rock ledges surrounding the blue hole that make for a perfect natural diving board for you to leap off of.
Your depth perception will initially be thrown off once you see how clear the water is and that you can see straight to the bottom.
While visitors come to explore this area of the forest all throughout the year, it's most popular during the summer when you'll find people wading all throughout the water.
Like something out of a fairy tale, you'll find breathtaking greenery taking over the area and plenty of stacked rocks.
While you may be quick to jump into the stunning water, prepare yourself! You're diving into our mountain water and it's a bit chilly to say the least!
While there's nothing like seeing this amazingly clear water for yourself in person, you can get a taste of this natural wonder in the footage captured by ELRICH695 on YouTube below:
