Legoland Will Open In Upstate New York In 2020 And We Couldn’t Be More Excited
New York has it’s fair share of popular theme parks like Rye Playland and Darien Lake, providing us with seasonal excitement that’s great for the entire family. But one kind of attraction that the Empire State is lacking is a big-name theme park and resort that’s universally loved by all. Becoming America’s third location, the state of New York is getting it’s very own Legoland and here’s all you need to know!
What has been in the works for quite some time now, this week it was officially announced that Legoland will be coming to the town of Goshen in 2020.
Over the past year many of New York's residents have been keeping their ear to the ground when it comes to news about a potential Legoland coming our way. Finally this week Merlin Entertainment held an event in Goshen to confirm that Legoland will be opening in the year 2020. If you're wondering where you might know Merlin Entertainment from, they're the company that operates the Madam Tussauds Wax Museums! The $350 million dollar theme park is the company's single largest investment that it's ever made, stating that they're confident in choosing this New York location.
Currently in Goshen you can visit the Legoland Community Welcome Center, located at 6 North Church Street in town.
The community welcome center in town is a space that was created to give locals a place where they could come and learn more about the park's upcoming plans and what will come with the creation of New York's Legoland. To find out more about the welcome center, click here.
The first Legoland theme park in the Northeast, America already has two Legoland locations in California and Florida.
The economic impact of New York's Legoland is predicted to be large, creating 1,300 jobs and a third of visitors being international that will be able to see all that the Orange County area has to offer. As of right now it's expected that anywhere from 1.5 to 2.5 million visitors will be coming to check out Legoland each year, generating $283 million dollars in sales over a 30 year period. Wowza!
New York's Legoland theme park will be open seasonally from April 1st through November 1st each year, a theme park opening that we'll be able to look forward to time and time again.
That's right. The actual theme park may only be open from April through November, but the hotel that they'll be building on site will remain open throughout the entire year! The small town can be found just 100 miles south of Albany and 60 miles north of New York City, making it relatively accessible for most regions in our state.
