Within this sweet little town is a restaurant within a restaurant, and the atmosphere is just as lovely as the food. This restaurant is located inside Double Eagle restaurant. The historic building holds two impeccable eateries within. While Double Eagle is perfect for a night of fine dining, Peppers is a cafe that's home to affordable New Mexican dishes that are as delicious as can be. With either restaurant, you'll be dining in an atmosphere that is so charming.
This restaurant on the Mesilla Plaza is actually a National Registered Historical Building, and dates all the way back to 1849. Many events have happened in and around this building in Mesilla, like the arrest of notorious outlaw Billy the Kid in 1881.
Upon dining in Peppers or Double Eagle, you'll be surrounded by many antiques that have been acquired throughout the centuries. Each room holds it's own unique character and has been named things like the Maximillian Room, Isabella Ballroom, and the Billy the Kid Patio. Each one is absolutely beautiful in its own way.
