New Mexico is home to some of the oldest places in the country, which means spooky tales are sure to follow. Historic locations—like Albuquerque's Old Town—are eerie enough at night. But combine that hushed environment with some chilling historic accounts and you've probably found yourself in the middle of a ghost walk hosted by ABQ Tours.
Often referred to as the Original Ghost Tour of Old Town, these guided walks last just under two hours and will take you on a historic journey through this notable section of Albuquerque.
While daytime tours are offered, we think trekking in the dark only heightens that spooky experience.
Your excursion begins at the ABQ Tours office in the Plaza Don Luis, where you will meet your guide.
They will be carrying a lantern that will serve as your primary light source for much of the journey.
Your guide will provide highly detailed accounts of both famous and lesser-known ghost stories that surround Old Town Plaza.
Even if you just happen to be a specter skeptic, you will get an engaging, funny, and sometimes tragic view of this part of town. While you may not be able to step inside most of the buildings during your tour, some locations you'll visit include San Felipe de Neri Church and Casa de Armijo.
These ghost excursions are available several times per day as both public and private tours.
With current COVID-19 measures, tour groups are limited in size and social distancing is enforced as needed.
Not sure you want to walk for the duration of the tour or want a longer tour?
Try out the Walk & Ride option, which combines a van ride with occasional walking. On this tour, you will get to see some of the haunted locations, Hollywood filming locations, and the sites of famous crime scenes along with detailed stories to go with them.
